Who We Are

SELFY is a nonprofit organization that focuses on Educating, Empowering, and Supporting Women and Girls Mental Wellness; with a special focus in our Black and Brown communities.

 

Our strength lies not only in the words we stand by, but most importantly through the actions of our initiatives. We realize the importance of how a positive self image has a unique influence on our mental wellness and by working together we could overcome our challenges much more efficiently, that is why we ultimately decided to launch SELFY. 

 

Since the birth of SELFY back in 2018, we have been determined to make a positive impact on how people see themselves. The core of our efforts is to bring awareness to the unknown by using our fresh ideas and our passion for empowerment through the range of workshops we offer to strengthen women and girls across the Ohio.

 

We understand that sometimes all it takes to change your outlook on life is a little support. Through all of our endeavors we hope to display the conviction behind our belief that Self-Awareness brings the clarity you need to strengthen Self-Love and Acceptance, which will bring wholeness and a better mental state.

Yoga Girls on the Mat

Focus: Emotional Strengthening and Increasing Awareness

Providing the support and education needed to help girls develop physical and emotional strengths through yoga, meditation and mindful practices: These workshops are for girls ages 10-17. We focus on Defining and Understanding Self-Worth, Strengthening Self-Awareness, and Enhancing Self-Love. *This workshop caters to individuals dealing with low self-esteem, bullying, stress, depression or anxiety.

From Idea to Reality: 
Girls with Goals!

Focus: Growth Mindset and Decompressing

Focusing on Women and Girls, we strive to provide the best guidance and support to help to achieve your goals. Through our mentoring program we pair you with someone to support you through your journey of becoming a better, happier and sustainable you. *This program design for those looking for assistance with the following:

  • Goal Setting/Career Planning 

    Mentorships will focus on goal setting and career planning helping the mentee identify professional and personal goals, as well as think about long-term career path.

     

  • Problem Solving

     Mentorships will focus on problem solving, helping the mentee develop cognitive skills in order to strengthen the mental process of discovering, analyzing and solving problems to overcome obstacles. 

    ***An activity example for this mentoring objective would be to identify a real problem with his or her mentor and then brainstorm solutions together, as well as discuss pros and cons for each option.***

Yoga Class

SELFY Workshop

Focus: Rejuvenating and Unpacking Unwanted baggage

Taking a step back and resting the mind is vital to re-energize. Being busy all the time will lead to missed opportunities and lack of clarity and insight. You need mental space to be creative and focused. 

 

Mindfulness is presented in both simple practices and an overall perspective shifts around where we focus our attention. 

 

This workshop will help you unpack the mindless way to live life and make the case for a mindset change. We will share our personal and professional experiences which have enabled a more grounded and productive life for us and many others.

 

Takeaways

-Discover and define mindfulness for you and why you should be practicing it.

-Identify and unpack your self-limiting beliefs using mindful techniques.

-Gain perspective on how to integrate meditations into your life in a way that serves you rather than dominate your time.

SELFY emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support Women and Girls, and a desire for actions to speak louder than words.
