SELFY Welcomes You
Who We Are
SELFY is a nonprofit organization that focuses on Educating, Empowering, and Supporting Women and Girls Mental Wellness; with a special focus in our Black and Brown communities.
Our strength lies not only in the words we stand by, but most importantly through the actions of our initiatives. We realize the importance of how a positive self image has a unique influence on our mental wellness and by working together we could overcome our challenges much more efficiently, that is why we ultimately decided to launch SELFY.
Since the birth of SELFY back in 2018, we have been determined to make a positive impact on how people see themselves. The core of our efforts is to bring awareness to the unknown by using our fresh ideas and our passion for empowerment through the range of workshops we offer to strengthen women and girls across the Ohio.
We understand that sometimes all it takes to change your outlook on life is a little support. Through all of our endeavors we hope to display the conviction behind our belief that Self-Awareness brings the clarity you need to strengthen Self-Love and Acceptance, which will bring wholeness and a better mental state.

Focus: Rejuvenating and Unpacking Unwanted baggage
Taking a step back and resting the mind is vital to re-energize. Being busy all the time will lead to missed opportunities and lack of clarity and insight. You need mental space to be creative and focused.
Mindfulness is presented in both simple practices and an overall perspective shifts around where we focus our attention.
This workshop will help you unpack the mindless way to live life and make the case for a mindset change. We will share our personal and professional experiences which have enabled a more grounded and productive life for us and many others.
-Discover and define mindfulness for you and why you should be practicing it.
-Identify and unpack your self-limiting beliefs using mindful techniques.
-Gain perspective on how to integrate meditations into your life in a way that serves you rather than dominate your time.
-Gain tips on developing a regular mindful practice that’s fun, relaxing and energizing.
*This workshop caters to adult women looking to network with women while developing a rejuvenating Mindful practice for Self Care and Wholeness.

Dealing with the challenges of today requires problem-solvers who bring different perspectives and are willing to take risks. SELFY emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support Women and Girls, and a desire for actions to speak louder than words. We’re an organization driven by progressive ideas, bold actions, and a strong foundation of support.
Food for Thought:
According to The American Psychiatric Association, "Racial/ethnic, gender, and sexual minorities often suffer from poor mental health outcomes due to multiple factors including inaccessibility of high quality mental health care services, cultural stigma surrounding mental health care, discrimination, and overall lack of awareness about mental health."
According to Professor emeritus Jon Kabat-Zinn, founder and former director of the Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, "Practicing mindfulness can bring improvements in both physical and psychological symptoms as well as positive changes in health, attitudes, and behaviors."
According to StopBullying.gov, "The 2017 School Crime Supplement (National Center for Education Statistics and Bureau of Justice) indicates that, nationwide, about 20% of students ages 12-18 experienced bullying. The 2017 Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) indicates that, nationwide, 19% of students in grades 9–12 report being bullied on school property in the 12 months preceding." survey.https://www.stopbullying.gov/resources/facts
"When I came to your class, I had just completed two inpatient psych hospitalizations and was in the middle of an intense outpatient program. Of course many things contributed many things contributed to me landing in the hospital, but one main issue was my intense anxiety. Your yoga classes helped me achieve peace and even when I am not in your class I use some of the techniques you taught to calm myself down. I can't thank you enough for helping contribute to my journey of healing."
Sara - Yoga Student
"I really needed the SELFY workshop. The different examples and practices you provided the class hit home. I am so used to forgetting about me. I experience self sabotage everyday. The workshop helped me realize the importance of me and my desires outside of just surviving. Your concepts are so important and on point with things going on in the world today, especially with social media influence we have. I think your program should be a part of wellcare visits for children.
